Hello lil' Birdies and welcome to my blog!

I am in the process of building my new online boutique called Blonde Birdie (http://www.blondebirdie.com/) and am starting this blog to be able to share the progress with you!

Blonde Birdie is a one-of-a-kind online boutique featuring gifts for everyone on your list, unique accessories and baby items, organic body products and soy candles, handmade jewelry and much more...send us an email to be notified when our site officially launches!

I have had loads of retail experience with different companies, but actually setting up my OWN company has been very different. For starters, I am working on this company after having worked about 8 hours a day at my day-job, so most of the real work right now is getting accomplished in the wee hours of the night. This would explain the dark circles I've been sporting for several weeks now- very fetching! Luckily I have several people in my life who are business-minded and are available to help me wade through the trickier parts, such as sales projections. Who knew you could accurately predict how much you would be selling 5 years from now?? I always assumed such visions came from crystal balls, yet somehow I was able to formulate these numbers after hours and hours of research. I think I could now win a small fortune on Retail Jeopardy, if such a game existed.

So far, I have made some real progress as far as getting the business end of the boutique set up. I have received my federal and state business ID's as well as been approved for accounts with many great vendors. I am using a web design company called Quirky Bird for my website, which will be hatching around February 1st, 2009. I have just begun to place and receive small orders from gift companies. Even though the site is not live yet, there are lots of things to be done with the merchandise, so I am trying to bring in small orders to do a little at a time. Slow and steady! I'm just about ready to begin shooting photos of the items as well as trying to come up with witty and clever things to say about each piece. Hopefully after reading my tantalizing descriptions you'll realize that these are items you never knew you couldn't live without.

Along with these tasks, I am still searching for new and unique vendor lines that will set my site apart from the many online shopping sites. I will update this blog as I make more progress building the site, as well as information about the official launch. I am open to suggestions and ideas, so please drop me a line! Same goes for questions, comments, or general love notes- I want to hear it all!
